Advancing Astronauts and Spaceflight
Pioneering research for a sustainable future in space exploration.
Mission:
The Korean Institute for Astronauts (KIFA) is committed to preparing humanity for space exploration through comprehensive, multidisciplinary research.
As Korea's first institute focused on human factors in space, KIFA brings together experts from diverse fields, including space medicine, spacesuit design, astrobiology, space policy, ethics, physiology, space habitat modelling, and Zero-G research. This collaborative approach enables us to address the complex challenges of long-duration human spaceflight, especially in preparation for Moon and Mars missions projected for the 2030s.
KIFA’s core mission is to develop practical, evidence-based solutions that enhance astronaut safety, health, and performance in extreme environments.
We aim to ensure not only scientific survival, but also physical and psychological well-being in space, while promoting sustainability in off-Earth living systems.
By advancing our understanding of human adaptation beyond Earth, KIFA contributes to building a resilient future for space exploration—paving the way for Korea’s leadership in global space initiatives and helping to shape humanity’s next giant leap into the cosmos.
